Kaikoura to Picton

Today we left Kaikoura and drove the three hours to Picton, stopping often for photo ops. We made a brief, but much needed stop in Blenheim, having lunch at Macca's, lamb burgers along with a Big Mac, then off  to get tickets for the Malrborough Food and Wine Festival on Saturday. We also found out about a really nice art tour, which really isn't a tour but more like a series of artists with open studios.

We then continued to Picton, which is only a half hour away, and it is stunning in its beauty. The ferry terminal is here ad it is also the jumping off point for the Queen Charlotte Trek, so there are lots of backpackers and international travelers. We will be here for the next few days, taking a harbor boat ride Friday morning, a hike in the afternoon, the food festival on Saturday before we take the ferry across the Cook Straight to Wellington for a couple of days.
